Last Weekend

The last week has been full, so many things to share about! In order not to overwhelm you with details, I will give a brief summary of highlights from the last week.

Saturday
-Bulgarian Liberation Day! Celebrating freedom after being under Turkish Oppression for 500 years.
Yum!
-We stayed in Razgrad, and Katie made chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast (with ingredients her mom had sent her from the States. There are no chocolate chips in BG).
-Joshua and I spent some time playing hymns together, him on the accordion and me on the clarinet. It was a sunny, warm day, so we even stood on our balcony to soak up some sun while playing a song.
-We went to the Ludogorets football (soccer) game. They are the Razgrad team, and they have been undefeated this whole year! They won the game, 3-0. Two teens from church were in the band that played at the beginning of the game. It was a great game! Here are some pictures. We had a fun time!

There was a gorgeous sunset Saturday evening, and we had a great view!

Sunday
-I taught Sunday School again, and the lesson went really well! Several people told me the lesson was very good. I am glad God used me to speak to the people.
Me and the bolero I crocheted
-I wore my crocheted bolero to church, and talked with several people about it.
-It was the first Sunday of the month, so it was a bigger service than usual. I got to say hi to my friends from Ossenets. :-)
-After church, I was able to talk with several people. I got to put into practice what I had learned in language lessons the previous week. There was some food for people to snack on as they fellowshipped, and everyone spent a while talking. I talked with Yanka for about twenty or thirty minutes (in a conversation that was mostly Bulgarian, with some Romance language thrown in [Italian, French, Romanian, Spanish], and a bit of English). It was a good conversation, and I was happy I could communicate enough for a conversation that long.

Monday
-Language lessons went well.
-I went to English Club! There were several new teens, and it was great to see the room full. They were excited to see me! (Apparently Semah had told them about me last week when I wasn’t there, so they were happy to see me.) We had fun playing game and learning about descriptive words. It was very enjoyable. At the end of English Club, there were about six girls gathered around me, begging me to come back next week. : ) They also admired the crochet bolero I had made, and wanted me to teach them how to crochet. A few interrupted in cheers when I said I would teach them! (I was a bit surprised they were so excited! It was nice to see their enthusiasm.) It was a great evening, and a wonderful day all together
